Thomas Benson Pollock

Born: May 28, 1836, Strat­hal­lan, Isle of Man.

Died: De­cem­ber 15, 1896, Lon­don, Eng­land.

Pollock was ed­u­cat­ed at Trin­i­ty Coll­ege in Dub­lin, Ire­land (BA 1859, MA 1863), where he won the Vice-Chan­cell­or’s Prize for Eng­lish Verse in 1855. He stu­died me­di­cine in Lon­don, but in 1861 de­cid­ed in­stead to take Ho­ly Or­ders. He served as Cur­ate of St. Luke’s Church, Leeds, and St. Tho­mas’ Church, Stam­ford Hill, Lon­don. Then, for the rest of his life, he min­is­tered to the poor at St. Al­ban’s Mis­sion in Birm­ing­ham.
